The bane of all laboratory instructors in large institutions is how to train TAs to work effectively and efficiently in the laboratory given their diverse backgrounds and little-to-no time to devote to laboratory preparation. In this talk, a model for initial TA training will be presented for the incoming graduate students at the University of Notre Dame. Building on that foundation, several models that are used for training TAs for guided inquiry laboratory experiences in multiple classes will be presented along with specific laboratory examples.
