The Association of American Medical Colleges has established the Pre-health Collection through its MedEdPORTAL’s iCollaborative to help faculty in disciplines represented in the MCAT address pre-health competencies within their courses. The objective of the initiative is to use the Internet to centralize high quality teaching resources for instructors that teach courses serving populations of pre-health students. The freely available open access web sources included within the collection are reviewed to ensure quality and are categorized according to which pre-health competency is addressed by the resource. Since chemistry courses comprise an important component in the preparation of pre-health students for their future careers, resources for chemistry instructors are important to include within the collection. Ideally, this would be accomplished by establishing a community of users that contribute their own resources for inclusion in the collection and for use by their colleagues. A description for methods of involvement in the initiative and contribution of resources are presented.
