Introducing sophomores to the commonly used organic 1 separation techniques (extraction, recrystallization, thin layer chromatography) can be done in any order as stand alone laboratories with some success. These techniques can also be presented in a sequential, integrated manner, a potentially more instructive method. The implementation of the latter is the focus of this presentation.
