Science Practice 1 states “the student can use representations and models to communicate scientific phenomena and solve scientific problems.” The presenter will share two activities that were used in her AP Chemistry class this year that were intended to develop this skill in her students: “What Happens When Iron Is Burned” and “Observing Chemical Reactions”. These activities were modified from two activities submitted by other teachers at a summer institute in AP Chemistry.
