The Green Crystal Lab has students synthesize and analyze a complex hydrated salt containing iron, potassium, and oxalate. It involves the use of a number of preparatory and analytical lab skills including data-collection technology. This session will share how this experiment is being utilized both as a full laboratory experiment as well as a framework within which a number of AP chemistry concepts may be reviewed and practiced. Procedures and related review assignments will be provided to workshop participants. Additionally, information about converting the Green Crystal Lab to a more inquiry-based laboratory experiment will also be shared.
