The American Chemical Society’s Committee on Community Activities is made up of a cross-section of chemistry professionals, educators and volunteers who assist the Office of Volunteer support with creating materials and resources for outreach to the community. Our flagship programs, Chemists Celebrate Earth Day and National Chemistry Week, give opportunities for high schools and colleges to take part in civic engagement by hosting outreach events, and the committee assists in preparing students and volunteers by presenting webinars, sending copies of “Celebrating Chemistry” to events via Local Section coordinators and recognizing outstanding volunteers. This poster will address the major programs and resources presented by CCA and give ideas on how you can use outreach as a part of civic engagement with students.
