P80: Recognizing excellence in chemistry education for allied programs, part I: ACS role and hallmarks of success
As recognition of the important role of two-year colleges in STEM education has grown, so too has the push to recognize and share successes in this part of the chemistry pipeline. In response, the ACS Two-Year College Advisory Board has assembled a working group to explore the development of a framework to recognize excellence in two-year college chemistry education. This interactive discussion will focus specifically on the unique needs of chemistry courses that are not affiliated with a two-year chemistry degree. Participants will explore their goals for ACS recognition, what constitutes excellence in chemistry education that is not part of a dedicated degree track, and how excellence can be recognized.
