This session outlines how to use student-centered activities within the high-school classroom. Topics to be addressed will be on how to create an atmosphere where the class and lab activities are accessible and motivating for all classroom learners. Building student process skills and capability to think independently and creatively is emphasized. A particular focus also revolves around cost-effective and everyday resources to use within the course. Utilizing lab activities I’ll provide steps to executing activities in a manner that is student and teacher friendly. I will focus on how to help students develop concepts while being time efficient in conducting the experiments. In order to set your students up for success an outline of assessment techniques that impact student learning as the activities are being completed will also be covered.
