Online homework can be effective in helping students to improve their knowledge of chemistry and their problem solving skills. This talk focuses on switching online homework platforms from traditional to ALEKS. The ALEKS software is a learning system that uses artificial intelligence to assess and tutor the students. After taking an initial assessment, ALEKS allows students to work at their own level and will not permit them to do problems that they are not ready to learn. Advantages and disadvantages, as well as implementation strategies are discussed. Student feedback, success and retention are presented.
